Council’s Strategic Land Purchase Fund proposal is wider than simply land that is required for Parks and Reserves. There are restrictions on the ability to have developers contribute as a part of their activities and Brian can be assured Council has always used that avenue to its fullest extent. This new fund enables a bigger picture to be contemplated going into the future.
Rest assured I personally would redirect existing expenditure to do this not make it an added impost to ratepayers. Unfortunately this is not supported by a majority of Councillors.
Council is not prepared to make tough decisions and curb spending in some other areas hence an ever increasing push to screw more and more money out of ratepayers.
Observe the current hard decisions being taken by Central Government to reprioritize its spending.
