Community organisations looking for volunteers and volunteers looking for volunteer roles no longer need to seek assistance from outside the Kāpiti Coast.
A new Volunteer Centre Volunteer Kāpiti will provide this service to everyone on the Kāpiti Coast, from Pukerua Bay all the way up to Ōtaki.
Volunteer Kāpiti was opened this week in a launch celebration that packed out the Kāpiti Community Centre. Mayor Jenny Rowan, cut the ribbon to officially open the new Volunteer Kāpiti office.
Manager of Volunteer Kāpiti Janet Cowper said, “We are very excited about being able to provide this service to the Kāpiti Coast. After nearly two years of hard work and dedication by many individuals and supporters we look forward to providing this vital connection between volunteers and Not for Profit organisations in the local community. We acknowledge the remarkable work of the many Not‐for‐Profit organisations in the community and are here to support these groups further with the service that we provide.”
The Volunteer Kāpiti opening coincides with Volunteer Awareness Week, a nation wide annual event aiming to encourage more people to volunteer.
If you would like to be a volunteer or need a volunteer then Volunteer Kāpiti would be pleased to hear from you.
