Ricki Herbert’s All Whites dream run at the World Cup has come to an end but not before another heroic effort from goalie Mark Paston and a kiwi team that played with huge pride. In another stunning result the All Whites toughed out a draw against the Group winniners Paraguay.
The 0-0 draw was not enough for the team to progress from Group F but it did mean the All Whites will leave the World Cup undefeated through three games. Another bonus is we finished ahead of current World champions Italy – that equals some serious bragging rights.
Both sides played tenacious football, but neither was able to score. Paraguay dominated early possession but failed to create danger against a fierce New Zealand defence.
