SaveKāpiti welcomes NZTA centre

SaveKāpiti warmly welcomes the initiative of the NZ Transport Authority in opening its information centre in Coastlands which is designed to keep the people of Kāpiti informed about the new MacKay’s crossing to PekaPeka motorway.

Most in Kāpiti acknowledge the need for improved local and national roads in the Nature Coast but question whether the Government proposed solution is the best one. The centre will allow the residents of Kāpiti to engage face-to-face with NZTA and express their heartfelt concerns about the proposed motorway. Together, residents and NZTA can seek a better solution that does not so brutally divide the community, is far less expensive but equally effective in dealing with traffic problems and does much less harm to individual and corporate properties. SaveKāpiti is eager to be part of that process and to support the large majority of residents of the Coast who are dismayed and frustrated by the present proposal.
