Third term Waikanae Community Board member, Eric Gregory will seek election as an Independent candidate for the Waikanae Ward Council seat and for the Waikanae Community Board in this year’s local body election.
The seat has been held by Sandra Patton this term but she has indicated she will not seek re-election.
Mr Gregory, a long time Waikanae resident, had intended standing for a District-Wide seat on Council, but said he had received great
encouragment to stand in the ward.
“This is my home. I very much enjoyed representing the people of
Waikanae on the Council from 2004-2007 and I welcome the opportunity
to do so again.”
Mr Gregory has been a member of the Waikanae Community Board for 9 years.
“Standing for the Ward gives me the opportunity if elected to council to be appointed back to the Community Board.”
Mr Gregory, previously the Waikanae Ward councilor in 2004-07 hit a health “speed hump” in the lead up to the last election affecting his campaign.
“I’m now 100% and want to be at the table to ensure the best decisions are reached in the long term interests of Waikanae without rates being a burden.
“I’ve lived here over 40 years and seen many changes, this coming term sees some major projects reaching the final stages, Kāpiti can’t afford a repeat of Council’s last three years of little or no progress,” says Mr Gregory.
