Janet Holborow
We need a council that works together effectively to move Kāpiti forward while preserving the unique character of our community. As a member of the Paekākāariki Community Board for the past three years, I have been part of a board that worked as a team to achieve positive outcomes for the community.
The lifestyle we all enjoy on the coast depends on our ability to travel easily and access amenities. While improvement is needed to facilitate travel in the district, I oppose a motorway which will divide our community and negatively impact on the local economy and environment.
Consultation is an essential part of the role of Ward Councillor. Over the past three years, the Community Board have consulted on a number of issues, and worked hard to represent the views of the community at the Council table.
With a fast-growing population and changing demographic, Kāpiti needs to develop in a sustainable way. We need to ensure that infrastructure keeps up with this growth.
The Kāpiti Coast has a strong artistic community. As a musician, I look forward to supporting our rich artistic and cultural heritage.
