Work will start shortly converting the old State Highway into a local road. “It is important that the NZTA should first start on the Raumati South end,” says Bernie Randall.
Bernie Randall, a member of the Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board, is urging the Associate Minister of Transport Julie Anne Genter to make this happen.
The Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board passed a resolution at a recent meeting urging NZTA to start work on the Raumati South End first. This is because the Rongomau footbridge at the South end is currently a bridge to nowhere. There is no footpath on the old State Highway leading from the bridge, making it dangerous for school children and elderly who use the bridge.
“A caring community looks after its infrastructure along with its residents. It is a safety issue,” says Mr Randall.
