New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) has granted $6,688 to the House of Grace Trust, ensuring essential support continues for young pregnant women in Porirua, helping them build a better future for themselves and their babies.

General Manager Rebecca Bangma says, “The House of Grace Trust provides vulnerable young mums with access to the wraparound support they need in order to make positive changes for themselves. Our work directly impacts some of the most vulnerable members of our community – teenage mums who need a stable home, life skills, and emotional support to build a better future for themselves and their children.”
The Trust has supported over 220 young mothers since opening its doors in 2001, offering a stable home, life skills, mentorship, and love. Mums receive not just shelter, but a true sense of home—complete with shared meals, late-night chats, and an environment of aroha and connection.
Ms Bangma adds “When young mums receive the right support, they are more likely to develop strong parenting skills, continue their education, or enter the workforce. This not only benefits the individual families but also strengthens the community by fostering long-term resilience and breaking cycles of hardship.”
Ms Bangma says the positive ripple effect of this funding extends far beyond immediate support.
“Many of the young mums we work with go on to create stable, loving environments for their children and contribute positively to society. By equipping them with the skills and confidence they need, we help create a future where both mother and child can thrive.”
NZCT’s GM of Grants, Marketing and Communications, Ben Hodges, adds, “The House of Grace is doing incredible work supporting young mums at a critical time in their lives. Grants like this wouldn’t be possible without the responsible gaming partnerships we share with Legends Bar, The Mariner and The Sandbar Mana.”
