Porirua marks ANZAC day with citywide services

Porirua residents are invited to unite in remembrance this Anzac Day, with several services scheduled across the city on Friday, 25 April. The commemorations offer a chance to honour the sacrifices of those who served and continue to serve Aotearoa in military service.

The city’s main civic service will take place at Te Rauparaha Park at 9am, with seating available from 8.30am. A parade will gather at Hagley Street at 8.45am to march to the memorial. Light refreshments will be served at Te Rauparaha Arena following the ceremony. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed via the Porirua City Council Facebook page.

At the Porirua RSA on McKillop Street, a dawn service will begin at 6am. Attendees are asked to gather for a parade from 5.45am in the RSA car park.

Titahi Bay RSA will also host a dawn service at 6.30am, followed by a citizens’ parade on Whitehouse Road starting at 10.30am.

In Pukerua Bay, the flag will be raised at the RSA on Rawhiti Road from 8am, with a community hall service at 11am and a wreath-laying at Whenua Tapu Cemetery from 12pm.

Further services include:

  • Pāuatahanui: St Alban’s Church service at 10.15am, followed by wreath-laying at the war memorial.
