Porirua residents turned out in droves on Good Friday for the annual Titahi Bay Easter Fair, which moved this year to Te Rauparaha Park to accommodate a growing crowd and improved parking options.

The event, hosted by the organisers behind both the Titahi Bay Easter and Christmas Fairs, ran for five hours and featured over 150 craft stalls and food vendors offering flavours from around the world. From handcrafted goods to sweet and savoury treats, attendees were spoiled for choice in a festive atmosphere filled with colour, music, and laughter.

“This year’s venue was a game-changer,” said event coordinator Sonia Steel. “We needed more space and better parking, and Te Rauparaha Park delivered. The turnout was amazing.”

Light entertainment acts and a range of children’s rides kept young ones smiling throughout the day, while parents explored the variety of stalls. The event drew families from across Porirua and beyond, many making it a regular Easter tradition.

Just before the rain arrived around lunchtime, the local Fire and Emergency team made the most of the fair to connect with the community. They shared important information about lithium-ion battery safety, smoke alarms, and ran a recruitment drive to attract more volunteers to the Titahi Bay Fire Station.

“Shout out to Sonia and team for always supporting us and giving us a spot to engage with our community!” said a representative from the fire crew.

A gold coin donation collected at the entrance went toward supporting the Mana Special Olympics team, helping cover their travel and other essential expenses.

The fair not only provided a vibrant day out but also highlighted the community’s spirit of giving and inclusiveness—values that define Porirua.
