Two men have been charged with murder following the death of a man in South Wairarapa on Saturday afternoon.
The accused, aged 23 and 25, are scheduled to appear in the Wellington District Court on Monday. Police said additional charges are being considered as part of their ongoing investigation.
Authorities confirmed that those involved in the incident were known to each other, and reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to community safety.
“Our investigation continues, with one focus being to establish what other parties may have been involved,” police said in a statement. “We appreciate the community’s continued support as we work to make enquiries in the Wairarapa, and people will continue to notice an increased police presence.”
Police expressed gratitude to those who have already come forward with information and are encouraging others to do the same.
