Nic Nel, Director of Kāpiti Skips & Scaffolding, says it is an important part of their business to give back to the community.
“It is actually part of our policy framework. We try to support our community as much as possible and when there are prizes involved it is fun to make awards of our services.”
Mr Nel says a recent example was Waikanae resident Micaela Young (pictured) who was the lucky winner of the Tall Poppy competition.
“As a prize, she could choose between a free skip or scaffolding and chose a skip to help her tidy up her place. In the photo Micaela is with Kāpiti Skips and Scaffolding’s Preston Cunningham.
Mr Nel says Micaela wanted the skip recently and Preston positioned it exactly where she needed it. “Congratulations, Micaela. Enjoy the convenience of your skip, and we trust we can be of assistance again in the future.”
In another competition Kāpiti Skips & Scaffolding donated a free skip as a prize at the Rotary Golf Day at the Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course. “The day was held in aid of Kāpiti youth and the lucky winner was Annemarie Tiffen from Sopranos Restaurant. Congratulations, Annemarie, and thanks for supporting Kāpiti’s youth.”
Mr Nel says his company also enjoyed being a sponsored at the Mary Potter Hospice Strawberry Festival
“We Kiwis enjoy festivals and the Mary Potter Hospice Strawberry Festival is no exception. We had beef melting in our mouths served with chips and sauce, bought more from the stalls than we intended to and thoroughly enjoyed the music. A few drops of drizzle have never put us off having a ball and in any case, according to the band, it was raining men! Of course, Kāpiti Skips & Scaffolding supplied a skip bin to help keep the grounds clean and a good day was had by all.”
Mr Nel says it was great that Mary Potter Hospice received a whole chunk of funding to support the good work they’re doing in the community.
