Second Arrest Made in Wainuiomata Assault Investigation

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault in Wainuiomata earlier this month, police confirmed today.

The man faces a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is set to appear in the Hutt Valley District Court on Friday, 21 February.

His arrest follows that of a 23-year-old man on 6 February.

The victim, who spent five nights in the hospital, has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Todd of the Hutt Valley CIB thanked the community for its assistance and urged residents near Woolworths Wainuiomata to check their properties for any discarded items, particularly knives, that could aid the investigation.
