Five people have been arrested following a firearm-related incident at a property on Makara Road, Wellington, this afternoon.
Police responded to reports of a person being threatened with a firearm at the residential address at 1:50 pm. As a precaution, the Armed Offenders Squad was deployed, and cordons were set up along Makara Road.
Three individuals were taken into custody after leaving the property in a vehicle. Two others, who fled on foot, were later located and arrested nearby.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident but believe those involved were known to each other. No injuries were reported, and no charges have been laid at this stage.
Authorities have thanked Makara Road residents for their patience while cordons were in place. A continued police presence is expected in the area this evening as inquiries continue.
