Police are urging members of the public to come forward with any information related to the ongoing homicide investigation in Featherston, Wairarapa.

Detective Inspector John van den Heuvel confirmed this morning that the scene examination in Featherston is expected to be completed today. Two other scenes, located in Kaitoke and Carterton, have been cleared. A blessing of the Carterton site is scheduled for later this afternoon.

The investigation, dubbed Operation Ascot, was launched following a fatal incident on Saturday. A post-mortem is set to be conducted in Wellington tomorrow.

“Police maintain a presence in Wairarapa for community reassurance – however, we also reiterate our appeal to the public,” van den Heuvel said.

Two men taken into custody on Saturday remain under consideration for charges, but no formal charges have yet been laid.

Authorities believe multiple people may have witnessed aspects of the incident and are urging anyone who has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

“If you can help, please contact us on 105, either online or over the phone,” van den Heuvel said. He also asked that anyone with information reference file number 250322/8281 and Operation Ascot when getting in touch.
