Police Seek Public’s Help After Two Serious Incidents in Miramar

Police are calling for public assistance following two serious incidents in Miramar overnight, including a home intrusion and a critically injured person found unconscious.

At around 2 a.m., police responded to a call from a Darlington Road address, where residents discovered an intruder inside their home. One occupant sustained minor injuries after an altercation with the suspect, who fled before officers arrived. A police dog unit tracked the suspect north of the bus turnaround for several hundred metres before losing the trail.

About half an hour later, police on patrol discovered a person unconscious and critically injured near the intersection of Camperdown Road and Totara Road. The victim was taken to hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Leitch said investigators are working to determine whether the two incidents are connected.

“There will be a visible police presence in the area while we carry out this work and speak with residents,” Leitch said.

Police urge residents on upper Darlington Road (north of Camperdown Road) and those near Camperdown Road and Totara Road to report any unusual or suspicious activity from overnight. They are also asking locals to check their properties for stolen or discarded items.

The suspect is described as a tall man of thin, athletic build, wearing a white cap. Police are also seeking any CCTV footage that may assist the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 105, referencing case number 250317/6324.
