A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an assault in Wainuiomata that left another man with serious injuries.
The man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is set to appear in the Lower Hutt District Court tomorrow.
Police say the incident stemmed from an alleged road rage dispute on Wainuiomata Road, between Rata Street and The Strand. The assault took place in a supermarket car park while the store was open, with several witnesses likely present.
Authorities have seized the vehicle involved for forensic examination and are appealing for further information.
“We are particularly keen to speak to the occupants of a light-coloured Toyota Corolla who may have recorded the incident on a phone, as well as another group who stopped to intervene,” Police said.
