Police are investigating a serious assault in Wainuiomata after a man was found with severe injuries late last night.
At around 10 p.m., officers responded to reports of a fight in a car park on The Strand. However, those involved had already left the scene in two vehicles before police arrived.
Shortly after, emergency services were called to Riverside Drive, where a man was found inside his vehicle with serious injuries. Police believe the injuries were sustained during the earlier altercation.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Authorities are working to determine the full circumstances of the incident and to identify those responsible.
