Wellington is gearing up for a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration with the inaugural Courtenay Carnival. The event will take place on Tuesday, 31 December 2024, from 3.30pm until late, spreading across Courtenay Place, Blair Street, and Allen Street.
Organised by the Courtenay Precinct and supported by the Wellington City Council, this vibrant, all-inclusive dress-up carnival is set to be a highlight on the city’s event calendar. It promises a night of world-class hospitality, diverse entertainment, outdoor dining, and dazzling performances to welcome 2025 in style.
Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the pedestrian-friendly route from Courtenay Place to the waterfront via Tory Street, and back through Taranaki Street. The event is free of charge, making it accessible for all to join in the festivities.
Some streets will be closed for the carnival, so visitors should plan accordingly. For more information on road closures and event details, visit the Courtenay Carnival Facebook page or the Courtenay Precinct website.
