A community-wide search is underway for Maia Johnston, a teenager who has been missing since Saturday evening. Maia, described as intoxicated at the time, was last seen leaving a house on Akron Grove in Totara Park around 8:00 p.m. without her phone, wallet, or personal belongings. She is wearing black jean shorts, a green singlet, and carrying a black T-shirt, with Converse shoes.
Her guardian, Amy Walsh, has expressed deep concern, noting Maia is unfamiliar with the area. “We have been searching in the pouring rain for over 12 hours now, and there is still no sign of her,” says Walsh. Local residents have joined the search effort, scouring the neighbourhood in challenging conditions.
Authorities have been contacted, and Walsh is urging anyone with information to immediately notify her at 0220142176 or contact the police. The community is rallying to ensure Maia’s safe return, with fears growing for her wellbeing as time passes.
