Police Make Desperate Plea in Death of Baby Ru Case

Today marks one year since the tragic death of an infant in Lower Hutt, known as Baby Ru, whose homicide remains unsolved. Police continue their dedicated investigation, determined to find justice for the baby and bring closure to the grieving whānau and the wider community.

“Baby Ru was a defenceless child, and we are committed to getting justice,” says the investigating team. Over the past year, the team has meticulously combed through an extensive amount of evidence, ensuring no crucial details are overlooked.

Police are appealing to anyone with information. “We believe those who know what happened to Baby Ru must feel its weight on their conscience. We urge you—lighten your load, do the right thing, and come forward” Police say.

Despite the time that has passed, Police remain optimistic, continuing to pursue every lead. “We thank everyone who has provided information and will continue to investigate every piece of evidence, no matter how small.”
