Mana Cruising Club is set to officially open its 2024-2025 season this Saturday, 19 October, starting at 4 p.m. Members and guests are invited to an afternoon of festivities, including refreshments, followed by a buffet dinner and a dance party featuring live music.
Aaron Andis will take the stage at 7 p.m., providing lively entertainment with a mix of dynamic tunes spanning from the 1960s to today’s hits. The club has planned the event to be both a social gathering and a celebration of the club’s legacy since its founding in 1959.
Bookings for the buffet dinner are available at $38 per person. Interested members can contact Kee at 021898106 or via email at [email protected].
The club, established by a group of boating enthusiasts, has grown significantly since its early days. Its founders envisioned not only a space for socialising but also a facility for maintaining and repairing vessels. “We must remember that we are building not only for ourselves but also future generations,” state the minutes from one of the club’s earliest meetings. Today, Mana Cruising Club boasts some of the finest boating amenities in New Zealand, including a modern travel lift, extensive hardstanding areas, a trailer boat ramp, and a clubhouse with a fully equipped restaurant and function space.
The committee leading the 2024 season includes Commodore Ray Foster ([email protected]), Rear Commodore (Yard) Zane Milne, and general committee members David Stubbs, Elizabeth Charlton, and Marty Scott. Some roles remain vacant, such as Vice Commodore and Secretary, with positions to be confirmed soon.
Mana Cruising Club aims to foster a friendly, family-oriented environment that promotes safe boating and water activities. Its mission is to ensure the long-term financial viability of the club, benefiting both current and future members.
With this weekend’s event, the club is excited to welcome members old and new to what promises to be an engaging and vibrant new season.
