As part of the October School Holidays 2024, the City Centre Library in Porirua will host a special event series titled “Music and Words”, combining live music, storytelling, and an inspiring writing workshop. This event is designed to engage children and families in a creative and educational experience.
Event Details: Music and Words with Angel Yuan
On Thursday, 10 October at 2:00pm, the Music and Words series will feature a unique workshop led by Angel (Hongling) Yuan, an extraordinary young local author. A Year 5 student from Porirua Primary School, Angel is a frequent visitor to the Porirua Public Library and has already made waves in the literary world. At just seven years old, she published her first Chinese novel, Homecoming, and followed up with her first English novel, Adventures of the Elements, at age nine.
This workshop, part of the Music and Words event, will allow Angel to share her experiences with writing and self-publishing. Designed for confident young writers aged seven and up, the session will offer insights into the creative process and encourage aspiring writers to pursue their literary dreams.
Alongside Angel’s inspiring workshop, the event will include live music and storytelling, creating an immersive atmosphere where children can enjoy a blend of creativity through both words and music.
