The Pipe Band – Kāpiti Coast Pipes and Drums Band has been actively involved in the Kāpiti District for over 60 years and has a long history of successful participation in local and national competitions.
The band is family oriented and has trained many pipers and drummers who have gone one to participate in higher grade bands and compete on the world stage in pipe band and solo competitions.
The band can be seen at various local events, especially ANZAC Day Remembrance Parades. The band also competes at local Provincial Championships and the National Pipe Band Championships annually. Members of the band are available for Corporate events, weddings and funerals.
We are always looking for people who are considering learning to play the great Highland Bagpipe or any one of the three different drums that a pipe band uses. Contact details are available below and on our Facebook page.
The band has a teaching programme and rehearses every Monday evening at the Scots Hall in Raumati (Next to Weka Park) between 7.00pm and 9.00pm and on other days and times as necessary.
We also welcome anyone who would like to come along and support the band and participate in our activities and promote the playing of pipes and drums. Experienced pipers and drummers who have been members of this and other bands in the past, are very welcome to come and participate in the activities of the band so that we continue to grow within our community.
For more details, please contact Pipe Major, Roy Hitchcock on (04) 904 9024 or (022) 104 8735.
