The spectacular annual display of the hottest cars in Kāpiti is back on the road with the 2019 annual Gear Jammers Hot Rod and Muscle Car show taking place on 17th March at the Kāpiti Primary School, Rimu Rd, grounds.
Show co-ordinator Trevor Sheehan says the show will feature cars from all local car clubs.
“We also send invites to all car clubs in the lower North Island and there will be hundreds of cars there on the day. The show kicks off with a cruise leaving Southwards Car Museum car park at 9:30 am.”
Mr Sheehan says the cruise will wander through Paraparaumu local streets, including Paraparaumu North Beach through to Raumati South and ending at the Kāpiti Primary School for a fun full family day of music, trade stalls, rides for the kiddies, rocker cover racing, a retro fashion show and more. (see Route below)
Mr Sheehan says the cars will be Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, and Classics, mainly American, British, and Australian.
He says the annual event is about entertainment for the whole family.
“While some will meander through the field full of hot rods and muscle cars, others will take in the many trade stalls, watch the ingenuity of young kids who have built their own rocker covers for a race on our purpose built track, take in some music from the live band. The younger kiddies are catered for also with a bouncy castle and a small Ferris wheel. Coastlands shopping centre is just across the road if the above doesn’t keep you entertained for the day. Entry to this full on day is just a gold coin,” says Mr Sheehan.
The Kāpiti Gear Jammers Hot Rod and Muscle Car Club has 80 members and over 100 cars.
Mr Sheehan says the day will go ahead rain or shine.
“It is great for the public to see these cars and you will see them parked up all over town after the show.”
The car cruise will be leaving Southwards Car Park at 9:30am, 17th March and will proceedwest then into Ratanui Rd, Mazengarb Rd, Walton Rd, Donavan Rd into Manly St, Marine Pde, through Raumati into Rosetta Rd, Poplar Ave into Matai Rd, Hillcrest into Raumati Rd then into Rimu Rd and through to Kāpiti Primary School.
It is estimated the cars will be going through Paraparaumu Beach about 9:45am and Raumati 5 minutes later and should be at the Kāpiti School grounds at 10:00am.
