MP for Mana Kris Faafoi has today welcomed Simarjit Singh the Youth MP for Mana to Parliament as he takes up his role.
“I’m looking forward to working with Simarjit over the next six months as he works on issues that matter to youth throughout our community”, Kris Faafoi said.
“Youth Parliament gives young people the opportunity to take part in the heart of the political process and to learn, discuss and debate issues affecting young people right across the country.
“Porirua is one of the youngest cities in New Zealand and as such I’m looking forward to hearing Simarjit and his fellow Youth MPs debate the issues that matter to them”, said Kris Faafoi.
Youth Parliament will be held over the 16th and 17th of July 2013 and gives young people the opportunity have their voice heard and to experience first-hand how decisions are made that impact all of New Zealand.
“I was a Youth MP when I was a teenager. It sowed a seed of interest in representing communities and in politics. It’s a great way to start thinking of the communities and world around you.
“I’m looking forward to hearing the views and ideas that our Youth MPs come up with”, said Kris Faafoi.
