For Youthfest 2011, national hip hop dance champions DZIAH 2.0 will be taking to the stage.
The internationally recognized crew will be performing from 12 noon till 5pm for the young people attending the event on Saturday, March 12 at Maclean Park, Paraparaumu Beach.
The dance crews have travelled to Kāpiti before, however they have not had the chance to dedicate times to doing workshop and performances on this scale.
The crew will not only perform at Youthfest but also at Kāpiti, Paraparaumu and Ōtaki Colleges for students to attend on March 11.
While on the Coast, DZIAH they will run at least five workshops for the colleges. Young people have already expressed their interest in these performances and workshops with all workshops booked.
“The crew are pumped about coming and working with young people on the Kāpiti Coast, it will be awesome,” say Billie Paea, founder and director of DZIAH 2.0. Billie will also be travelling with the dance crew as they head to the Kāpiti Coast. Billie is well known in New Zealand having worked with big names such as singer and dancer Jay Williams.
With the date of the event closing in, the Kāpiti Coast Youth Council urge people to make sure they attend this fun packed day.
“Make sure you’re there to get into it, there’s just heaps of great things to be involved with,” says Youth Council Member Johnny Hargreaves.
As well as the dancing, the Youth Council have organised local music, a skate competition run by Cheapskates, rock climbing, graffiti mural, and lots of free stuff.
