The Village Inn at Raumati Beach will celebrate the beer-drinking festival of Oktoberfest to the tunes of popular Wellington folksters the Klezmer Rebs on October 2.
The Klezmer Rebs are an 8 piece ethnic/world music band featuring clarinet/sax, trombone, trumpet, violin, accordion, piano, guitar/mandolin, bass and vocals. They play klezmer music Yiddish music from eastern Europe, as well as other European folk songs and anthems, plus some English language jazz, swing and originals.
This is the first performance by the ‘Rebs’ at Raumati. Some will remember their shows over the past few years at Memorial Hall in Paekākāariki and at festivals in Wellington and Porirua including playing to a huge crowd at the Soundshell in Wellington for the Magic Gardens festival in 2009.
The Rebs will help revellers at the Village Inn oompah oompah the night away with two sets of joyous klezmer, Italian, Russian, French and Latin European music, with a few waltzes thrown in for a good German festival atmosphere.
What better way to drink and dine your way through Oktoberfest than with the lively Klezmer Rebs European ethnic music band.
So fill up your steins of bier and celebrate Oktoberfest European style with the Klezmer Rebs from 9pm on Saturday nite, 2nd October, at the Village Inn, 3 Raumati Rd, Raumati Beach, Kāpiti Coast. There is no cover charge.
