Kāpiti’s Greater Wellington Regional Councillor Nigel Wilson has officially confirmed himself as a candidate for the Regional Council at the upcoming elections.
“I have very much enjoyed the last three years as Kāpiti’s Regional Councillor and the experience gained puts me in a strong position to continue,” said Mr Wilson.
“There are many pressing issues to be pursued over the next three years at the regional level. Firstly we need to complete the railway stations at Paraparaumu and Waikanae and finish the double tracking. I also believe it is vital to the wellbeing of our district and the region as a whole to see double tracking through to Ōtaki. Just as it is crucial to have a railway station at Raumati and an improved bus service throughout the district.”
Mr Wilson said he has brought strong advocacy on behalf of Kāpiti to the Regional council forum and looks forward to the opportunity of continuing as Kāpiti’s advocate for the next three years.
“I have particularly enjoyed working with the many environmental care groups who contribute enormously and often anonymously to our district. We are the envy of the region in this regard,” said Mr Wilson.
