Campaign Statement
A Kāpiti resident for 20 years, I live in Raumati with my wife and two young children.
Qualified in the building and construction trade, I currently work as a Training Advisor for the Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation.
Holding a commercial pilot’s licence, I have worked at Paraparaumu Airport as a pilot/ instructor.
Having stood previously in the 2009 by-election I am standing once again.
I believe that the Community Board is the right place for representation of the views of the community. I would like to see the activities of the Board including more public consultation. It is important that the Board itself has a cross-section of viewpoints, and whilst we have a community with 27% of its population over 65 years I want to be there to represent the many young families in our community. The community continues to go through significant changes and development. The impact of an expressway which is essentially a NZ Transport Agency decision is not “the” election issue however the Council and the Board will need to work alongside the agency to ensure the best outcome for our community.
