Airport – flushed with unsuccess?

Dear Editor

The obvious alliance between mayoral candidate Chris Turver and land developer Noel Robinson has moved on from the first flush, to the simply ridiculous.
What began as “let’s blame the authorities” has now turned into “let’s offer the impossible.” Either way they do not have to continue the sham of pretending to develop an airport.
The latest move in suggesting Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) pay half the costs of a Control Tower can only be made by someone either totally devoid of all aviation knowledge, or as a deliberate ploy to deceive.
Surely such an apparent partnership of aviation and business acumen would know that the “Airport” is now a privately owned facility with no more status than a rural farmer’s landing strip.
Paraparaumu Airport Ltd (PAL), by painstaking design have made it that way, not the CAA, nor any other outside influence. It is their plan that there should be no Control facility, no east/west runway and no further burdensome aviation expansion, “You can’t make a profit from running an airfield.” Noel Robinson said so.
Let us at least come clean on the fact that the plan, so exhaustively executed by PAL in concert with KCDC, to convert the entire site for commercial development is simply coming to fruition.
