Business challenge for Aquatic Centre

Local Chiropractors Challenge Business to get Behind Aquatic Centre Fundraising.

Individual contributions to raise funds for the proposed Aquatic Centre have made an impression on local Chiropractor Dr. Iain Guest. So much so that he’s like to see businesses have a similar impact on the fundraising.

“There are so many small businesses between Paekākāariki and Ōtaki. If we all fund raised in a small way it would have a significant impact.”

Having seen the impact that individuals have made to the fundraising efforts and being inspired by the possibility of such a great asset to the community, Dr Guest decided to rally other Chiropractors on the Kāpiti Coast to the cause.

“As community based businesses it makes sense for us to get behind such an important community event. The Raumati pool has had its day and we are significantly overdue for this facility. Many individuals have donated money to the centre so it’s really time for business to step up to the wicket and see what we can achieve.”

“We may not be giant corporations which could help pay for this regional asset but the combined impact of our efforts are what will make a difference. If other businesses take up the challenge and see what they have to offer, then the impact could be significant.”

For this reason Dr. Guest is leading a fundraising initiative by the regions Chiropractors. For the week of 5-9th July anybody making a booking for a spinal assessment and a new client appointment at either Thrive Chiropractic on Kāpiti Rd or with Harry Phelps Chiropractor on Amohia St. will receive a $20 discount and 100% of the remaining fee will be donated to the Aquatic Centre Fundraising trust.

“This centre is bigger than just one individual or business. That’s why the practises have joined together to start this initiative.” said Dr. Guest. “I hope other businesses will accept our challenge and do something similar. If every estate agent donated a portion of their fee for the week or every doctors visit for a specific day was donated then we could have a significant influence on the outcome.”

Jane Smart the director of fundraising for the trust has applauded the idea as a fantastic way to help improve the fundraising momentum “”The Kāpiti Aquatic Centre trust is fully behind Thrive Chiropractic and the Chiropractic community in its initiative to support for the Aquatic Centre and would like to work with any other businesses who pick up on this concept it will be a community asset for many, many years to come”

The Kāpiti Chamber of Commerce has also embraced the idea, lending their significant weight to the initiative. “We encourage other businesses or business groupings to work out a way to do something similar” The chamber is helping to promote the event.
