Don Hunn, Chair of the Technical Advisory Group investigating Kāpiti’s water options addressed a full house at this morning’s Electra Business Breakfast at Southward Car Museum.
Mr Hunn said the group had started with 42 options and these were reduced to six for Council’s consultants to further investigate. It is hoped to have this number reduced to two or three for KCDC to make a final decision. Mr Hunn said the final choice may be a single option or a combination of options.
For largely political reasons it appears the Ōtaki River as a water source, and water metering, were not part of the considerations.
Mr Hunn said strong, intelligent leadership was required on this issue.
