Trial door to door bus services for Paekākāariki, Raumati South and Otaihanga residents have proved successful and are now no longer under review.
Kāpiti’s Greater Wellington Regional Councillor Nigel Wilson paid tribute to the efforts of Paekākāariki and Otaihanga residents for using the services.
“There is no doubt the increased usage helped save these services which have been rescued three times in the last two years. I am also very grateful for the support from Paraparaumu Community Board chairman John Haxton and Cr Lyndy McIntrye for their efforts in saving these essential services,” said Mr Wilson.
Peter Glensor, Chair of Greater Wellington’s Transport and Access Committee said it was good to see that changes to the service, agreed by community, local council and Greater Wellington representatives, had resulted in an increase in numbers and enabled the services to continue.
“I’m pleased that, by working together, we’ve been able to get a really positive outcome. I would encourage the Paekākāariki and Otaihanga communities to keep on telling people about these services and encouraging them to use them whenever they can.
The Paekākāariki bus service runs to Paekākāariki Station, Coastlands and Paraparaumu Station via Raumati South and back on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
